Just want to share this with everyone. It is the one I grew up with.
12 inch bottom crust. (I use my 12 inch pie crust bag I got from Sugarcraft) Place in pie pan (I use 10 inch) and crimp edges on top
8 or 9 large tart apples juice of 1 lemon Toss thin sliced and peeled apples in lemon juice and set aside.
1/2 cup cold butter, cut into small pieces 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar 1/2 cup flour 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Blend all together with a pastry blender until it clumps
1/2 cup rolled oats Mix oats with hand into the butter mixture until it forms small pea size balls
Make a mound of the apples in the pie shell and sprinkle the crumb topping over them.
Bake pie in a 375 degree oven 45 to 50 min or until apples are soft.
